Snorkelling shots... Kealakekua Bay, Kona, HI

My wife and I made a last minute decision on the last day of our Honeymoon to go snorkelling in Kealakekua Bay, just south of Kona, HI. Best decision ever, the snorkelling was mind-blowing. Water was approx 80, perfectly clear turquoise water calmer than most swimming pools.

My pictures kinda sucked. The underwater shots were taken with a disposable underwater camera, and I totally mis-aimed the flip up aimer on it. However, some came out good enough to make me happy

Oh fun, how much does an outting like that cost? I realize you need to be certified (hopefully) but what's the cost when you get there? My cousin did a bunch of diving in central america (Costa Rica, etc) and there it cost like $25 per person, but being as Hawaii isn't a third world country I'm curious of cost.

Hmmm. I know its Hawaii, but its Pacific. Where are the colors?

vents in the ocean floor ruin alot of the natural reefs in Hawaii, so do all the tourist boats, and although I am glad you had a good time and I wish it were me there Snorklers standing on the reef and touching them 16 hours a day 24-7, 365.
You have to find a remote area or go way out and a little deeper to find good color anymore In Hawaii.

The outing was about $100 a person. Which sounds like a lot, but was from about 9A - 4P, and included a VERY generous breakfast and BBQ lunch on the boat and several hours of snorkelling. No need for certification as it was just snorkelling

Dr. Reef, there were more colors than what appeard in those pics... that camera didn't do the first hand views justice. Also, most corals were a good 15' - 25' down where most but the blue light is washed out.
