I came upon this review on dpreview:
http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/fujifilmf30/

It performed so well in the review that I was inspired to test-try this camera out myself. This is a definite winner in my book. It handles easily, has excellent resolution, and is one of the least noisy (image quality wise) point and shoot cameras I've ever witnessed. The only cavaet is if you're shooting into a place with really wide dynamic range (lots of shadows and lots of bright highlights). This may happen in a few reef photography, and you'll lose detail in the shadows and highlights. But other then that, consider the Fuji F30 if you're in the market for a new $300 camera.

Wrasser, it will allow high ISO without nose (ISO 400 is impressively clean) so you'll have a far better result taking swimming fish photos. It's still a factor of light and speed, of course, but shooting a quiet ISO 400 opens up world's of possibilities.

Gresh, any Nikon or Canon dSLR is great :) How's that for help? :P

/me will ignore Louey like the rest of 'em!

How about some test pics from your (supposed) tank, Len?

BTW, how's the macro function on it? I'll settle for some nice macro watermelon chalice shots as test...

Peace,

Chip

It's sad, really...he used to be respected around here.

Anyone remember www.reefscapes.net? How about that cool Paletta book that had profiles of hobbyists tanks?

...just a distant memory now.

The King is dead...long live the Queen.

Peace,

Chip :(

Gresh, the D50 and D70S are both fine cameras. The image quality is there; the higher models simply have more advanced features that advanced photographers use (note: not junk features that you commonly find in point-and-shoot cameras). That said, Nikon is about to unveil a new camera that will likely replace the D70S. This should be within the week, but I'm not sure when it will actually be sold in stores (it will be hard to find for the first few months after the release due to demand > supply). The new camera will probably be priced like the D70S, but it has a 10.2 megapixel sensor like the D200. If you can wait, this should be the camera to get.

Know which model number it'll be? d80?
