Hi,
Just found this forum a week or so ago grat site.
I am in the process of changing my FOWL tank over to reef tank and need some information. My tank right now:
40Gal(US)
25Lbs live rock
Fluval 304 Filter
2.5" substrate
1 damsel
1 sailfin Tang
2 clowns
1 choc chip satrfis
1 royal gamma
4 snails
2 crabs
Coralife T5 (second coming Saturday)
The tank is in it's third month
Ammonia=0
Nitrite-0.1
Nitrate=<10 the color was less than the minimum on scale
Ph 8.2
Salinity 1.025
temp 78.5
Now what other equipment is needed to change over? I am retired so money is a slight proble I have to add gradually.
Jim

:welcome:

You are well on your way!

Here are a few quick recomendations.

1) Post in the New Reefers forum. Let us know exactly what you are looking to do (ie what kind of inverts you are looking to buy) and how many total watts of light you will have (and types of bulbs).

2) Take your tang to the LFS and try to get a credit toward a nice HOT protein skimmer or some powerheads to increase the flow in the tank. (the tang will quickly out grow your tank, and you already have a pretty heavy fish load. Sailfins are BIG tangs - only for 100g+ systems IMO)

3) you are going to also have to get rid of your starfish, CC stars are not reef safe.

Good luck!
