Now that my tank is finally 6 months old, I thought I'd share some pics. Not the highest quality pics considering I'm using an ultracompact (canon SD 1000), but this is my small way of thanking fellow manhattan reefers who provided many of the corals in the tank!

I agree, looking good, but need more piccs!
Why did you choose not to paint the back of the tank? It makes everything stand out more when you do it, plus you don't have to see the pesky wires

Wow your tank looks great, which is something you usually don't hear about a 6 month old tank. It'll look even better as everything grows out. Nice job and yes please, more pics.

Thanks. I'll try to post more pics this weekend. The tank back is unpainted because its sits as a divider between the kitchen and the sitting area in my loft. So all the pesky wires had to be hidden in the hood or the sides.

Well 6 months old is actually a slightly fudged date. The tank is 6 months old, but many inhabitants and the rock was a already year old from my previous 29g tank .

Specs for anyone interested:

55g (4ft long)
lights: 250 14K metal halide (no atinics - no space in the narrow hood!), 6 hours
shallow sand bed
skimmer: HOB Remora pro with mag 3 pump
no slump (I didn't want to drill through the granite kitchen counter top: argh!)
Extra water flow: 2 maxijet 1200 pumps
Amonia, Nitrites = 0, Nitrates = mostly 0, phosphate (for what its worth from the inaccurate test kits)= 0.2, calcium: 420 ppm, Alk = about 10, haven't tested in a while - ran out of test solution)
