I currently have the cannon power shot A620. I don't know that much about cameras and I was wondering if there are any upgrades for it that I can get as far as lenses or anything that I can use to take better pics. It takes great macro shots but I think they can be better. Is it worth even upgrading this camera or should I just sell it and upgrade? I don't want to drop a ton of cash on it so I would rather upgrade my existing camera and get a much better one in a year or 2.

Isn't that a fixed lens camera? If so then there's not much to upgrade. Save your money for down the road. But correct me on the camera, i am not too familiar with it.

if you're serious about getting 'into' photography, then save for an SLR.

But if you'd rather not sink a couple of grand into a camera you'll only use once in a while, look at some at some of the mid-ground digitals. While not quite as good/versatile as a DSLR, you still can do a lot more than you can with your (current) point and shoot.

I bought my dad a panasonic lumix fz7 and he's very happy with it. I think they're under $300 bucks now.

Canon, nikon and olympus all make similar cameras. And you can get things like close up lenses, wide lenses, ext.

Even if you are not serious about photography a dslr is still leaps and bounds over a P/S. You can get one with a good range zoom that will provide plenty of coverage. Just an idea.

I can remove the lens housing, I guess you would call it. I assumed there were others you could put in it's place. There's a button on it's face to release it. Also, what price range am I looking at if I want a camera for taking really close up macro shots? A ballpark of the entire setup and if you guys know a good place to buy it, website or store. Really appreciate the info guys.
