hi every one. just joined, i have a150 in third week of cycling,had brown diatoms. now a bunch of green hair algae. water parameters good some nitrates. ordered cleaners, when can i start adding live stock. look foreword to hearing from everyone,thanks edd

can't take pic now,i had a lot of hair algae.i read to shut lives and cover tank, so i put news paper on glass.they said for 5 days.any suggestions

Can you post your parameters? What test kits are you using? Did you fill your tank with RO/DI water, or tap water? Give us a little more info, so that members can help.

Time to add live animals to your tank will depend on when all your pars are in order. Meaning 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites, 20 ppm or less nitrates (preferably 0).

Sounds like you're having a phosphate problem. Good to get it now when you're cycling with no live stock to disturb.

It is concerning that you already are over run with hair algae when you are 3 weeks into cycle.

The question was asked about RO water. I am going to bet that you used tap water. Really need to use RO. If you didn't I would start large water chages with ro. I would actually just drain the tank and start over since you are only 3 weeks in.

That is if in fact you used tap....

yes i did use rodi water.my parameters this morning amo-0,ph-8.3,nitrite-0,nitrate-40,cal-500,alk-15.1kh,mag-1500.i uncovered glass today and did 20% wc,a lot of algae died off i will ck nitrates in morning.thanks for input.phos-0
