I added LR to my new tank last thursday and pretty much immediately the water turned green. It's still green now... Is this something that will go away after it cycles or should I start doing water changes?

I'd like to throw some carbon in there, but not sure how. Should I just put some in a bag and throw it into my sump, or are there through filters like the phosban reactor type? How do other people add it in when they don't have a canister filter?

The green phytoplankton will crash it self when the tank is out of nutrition. You can also kill it with UV. Do some water changes after the water clears.

I don't think carbon going to "cure" it or "kill" it, all carbon is going to do is trap as much as it can out of the tank but it will start to rot within the carbon causing a ammonia spike, then N02 -> No3 to feed more algae. Use a phosban reactor for carbon is the most efficient way, make sure the flow does not cause the media to fluidize because the carbon will turn to dust.
