Rinsing Sand

is it ok to rinse sand in tap water or should i use rodi??my tap reads 44 TDS so itis pretty low

rinsing with tap water is fine mike....

rinsing with tap water will kill off any life trying to establish in your sand.

if you're running a DSB, don't rinse your sand. you'll want those ultra-fine particles to stay in your sandbed. everything settles out in a couple days anyway, so it's no big deal. if possible, dump your sand in and fill your tank w/ your saltwater a couple days before you add your rock. that will give the sand some time to settle out of the water column.
