Ok this getting interesting... What is the life cycle of a MH bulb? I read the T5's are 18 month's to 2 years. Also while doing some home renovation I ran a dedicated 20 amp circuit for the fish tank, so I should be good there. Like Cali_Reef said I'll probably buy What I think is right and with experience buy what is right later.

I agree,as you go along things change and so will your setup.I started out with fish only, then my wife and I really liked the corals so I started with one that came attached to a live rock and nurtured that thing -turns out it was a ricordia mushroom-still with us,through thick and thin and survived all of my inexperience now I have about 7 different corals.
This is like the six million dollar man-faster....,stronger....,better.....and thats what you will find yourself doing after your all set-up with "the best" setup;you will be looking on how you could make it better.
