I was staring at my tank. (yes, my empty tank full of rocks and sand) and i noticed a frilly little fan thingy cropping oout from behind one of the live rocks. i think it was a feather duster worm that hitchhiked its way into the tank ont he liverock. now the questions:
1. can a small featherduster hitchhike and survive a new tank cycling?
2. if it is starled can it "disappear" suddenly? (when i poked my head around the side to take a better look at it, it was gone already)
3. do they poop? (yup, i said poop. i have noticed a small scattered pile of little grain sized brown things collecting under the rock where i just saw the feather duster over the past few days. they were definitely NOT there when we put the sand in.)
Additionally I have now been cycyling the tank for about five days. I have seen snails, worms, and little tiny flea sized crustaceans. all of which i have read are a good sign.
Also, last night's water test read:
Ammonia - 6 ppm
Nitrite - off the chart
Nitrate - 10 ppm
so i guess it is cycling
yay!
