Thinking of upgrading my 24g to a 30g cube or a bit bigger. Can't go too much bigger due to space limitations, and i can't convert my 56g to SW b/c my gf won't let me (she bought a fish and now i gotto keep it).

So anyways I was looking at a 30g cube or slightly bigger but now i don't know if i should get an all in one like the new Finnex 32g, or get a cube and do all the mods myself. If i do get the finnex i was looking to upgrade the lighting to MH's so really i would be spending more money than i should. And the skimmer would go into the garbage, beeing replaced by a aquaC.

Anyone has any recomendations or thoughts on the matter? I am upgrading from a JBJ 24g nanocube so anything right now is an upgrade.

Was thinking of getting it around november or around Xmas time. (Actually i am itching to get it alot sooner... sigh)

The question that still runs thru my mind is... why go to the expense for only 6 gallons? You'll end up spending at least 300 hundred dollars or more, for what? 25% more water than your present 24? If the Gf has "a" fish in the 56... for the good of the service I would requisition that tank, and just swap them... but then I don't have a girlfriend, so it work nice in my head to requisition it, lol

uhhhhmmm, I was being sarcastic about "not" having a g/f. (hmmm, now how the hell do I come out not looking like a saltwater tank obsessed guy?) What am I talking about this is Manhattan Reefs, bunch of single saltwater fish fans Leslie notwithstanding. :givebeer: and Pizza:tongue1:

The reason i am going to spend the cash for about 6 gallons more (2-4 inches more on each side LxWxHx2) is for one, i want the tank in my living room, which i really don't have room for the 55 in there unless i do a real workaround, but then design issues come into play. I can squeeze in a slightly bigger tank, the 24-30 gal upgrade, which makes my living room more of a Living room with an accent of a beautiful saltwater tank, instead of it beeing The Saltwater Fishtank room with a couch and a TV that people hang out in (unless i downgrade my 65inch LCD to a 30 inch and place it near the TV... hhmm.. though descision =0P). I'm dealing with brooklyn apartments which aren't that big and the 55 is about 1/4 or so the length of one of the walls in there.

I'm not going to go into the whole Gf thing. Presents to her are very important. I already had hell from her over the fish, she originally got me two expensive cichlids. One died when i went away on vacation and my sister was overfeeding my tank. Came back and the next day my tank had an ammonia spike, tank was running fine 3 months and cycled already,so it wasn't a late cycle. Lost two fish before i was able to get to the fishstore and get the bacteria microculture to balance the ammonia spike.

So i am sticking with the slight upgrade with a better filtration system. I mailed finnex about their 32g M-tank. They said to wait untill mid october, when they will be releasing their brand new M-Tank, which will have options to buy just the tank, option of PC to MH upgrade, with or without the skimmer, and a built in fuge.

Pretty much save people alot of cash customizing the tank instead of only getting the full blown package with 2-3 parts they really don't need or will have to upgrade. The skimmer is half descent and alot of people want MH's to be an option, also the skimmer takes the place of the fuge.
