what do you plan on keeping? How long as it been set up? What kind of lighting do you have? What are the current parameters of your water?

you'll be a skimmer, a powerhead, a heater, test kits, and the fluval 304 will probably need to go down the line.

M'akoy what they need is the results of your latest testing of the water.
Salinity or Specific Gravity (S.G.)
PH
Alkalinity
Calcium Level
Ammonia Level
Nitrite Level
Nitrate Level
Phosphate level
Carbonate Hardness
Temperature
I could go on and on, there can be that many tests for a reef tank.
Also, tell us what is the wattage of your lights

are you keeping a fish only tank? Or a reef tank (with corals etc)?
If it is fish only, I guess 36 total Watts could be ok. But if you plan on keeping any corals, anemones, or clams, you will need to upgrade your light output.
I have heard that you need about 5 to 8 Watts of lighting per gallon of water.
Is not an issue of the quality of your lights, is more of the intensity of it. Corals for the most part need the sunlight in order to grow and live. And they need conditions similar to those where they are native to, meaning tropical areas.
To make this short, look into upgrading your lighting system to between 150Watts total, or 250 Total.

I have 54Watts in my tanks and it is a 12gallon
I am sure other guys will give you more advice. But best of luck in the meantime.

you've had ur tank running for 3 months and havent tested your water? I hope you dont have fish in there yet. Have you done any water changes yet?
perhaps you should get a few books about this hobby and read up. And of course your welcomed to ask as many questions here until ur satisfied.

my suggestion is to use the search feature on this site to look at previous threads about ur questions, so much has already been disccussed and debated, it is really important that you know what your doing before you risk live stock.

get rid of the fluval as it creates nitrates, get a sump & skimmer, p.h is low, should be more like 8.2, salinity is low. i advise you to get a book. Perhaps "Corals" I wouldnt put fish, or corals as you are not prepared. some water movement would help also. There is alot you are missing.

You need more information and a firmer plan. You need to figure out what you want to put in the tank. You need to figure out what your budget is going to be.

Read a couple of books. I think the two best beginner books are The New Marine Aquarium by Mike Paletta and the Conscientious Marine Aquarist by Bob Fenner.

What you're asking for here is much too broad. It's like going to a car dealer that carries Hyundais to Ferraris and saying, "I have a driver's permit, what should I do?"

Once you firm things up a bit, check back and I'm sure everyone will be happy to help.
