Bought some live rock plopped it in w/ out aquascaping. Its been in there for 24 hours and my water looks great. I kept the live sand and water from my fish only tank, and put my clown and two damsels in a 10g while I set this one up. I measured last night and my paramteres were perefect 0's across and my ph was good too. Because of old live sand and old water did I skip a cycle?

Next I want to aquascape and Ive set up live rock before with no corals in other tanks but they always fell and made my life horrible. People have told me to use superglue to glue the rock together, do they mean regular generic superglue?
Ive also got some cool hitchhikers so far. What I think is a sally lightfoot crab, and some weird snail. The crab is real dark though almost black, I hope its a sally. Ill post a pic when i get a chance, but Im taking him out anyway and putting him in my refugium once it gets going. If anyone can let me know about the glue though that would be great

I'm not so sure 1 day is enough time to determine that your nitrogen cycle has been complete. Since your livestock is currently in another tank, I'd wait a few days before placing them in the new tank.

Many people use 2 part epoxy made for marine aquariums, to 'glue' rocks together. It can be found at many local fish stores like Petland Discounts, PetSmart or Petco.

Yeah, im being patient, Im in no need to rush. When I take out the pieces to catch the crab Im gonna try the krazy glue the two larger pieces that will be my base, honestly i dont see how it will work Im just imagining the consistancy of krazy glue, if it fails I will go to the store and pick the other stuff up thanks

Well, it's not just Krazy Glue. That product is too watery to effectively glue wet items. You need the gel version of 100% cryanoacrylate; any brand will do, as long as it's 100%. Make sure the tube says GEL. Even so, it may not be strong enough to aquascape live rock.

Hi JMH,

Make sure you settle the rocks on the bottom of the tank - not on the sand. Critters will shift the sand out from under your rocks and then they will fall over.

Also, I used the marine epoxy, and it does work. Keep in mind that it works more like plastic than glue. You have to shape it around the pieces you are trying to stick together, and then let it harden before you add the next piece.

Good luck!!!
