Hello,
I am planning to move my 60G tank from my living room (first floor) to my family room (Basement). Any suggestions? Any steps to follow? I used tap water while setting up this tank. During this move can I change the water completely to RODI? Any thing else I have to consider? Please guide.

Thanks.

since it's not to far a move(went through this not too long ago) it's pretty simple.

-prepare some saltwater in a large rubbermaid, maybe 30g, allow enough time for the water to properly mix and heat(place some of the rocks and corals in the rubbermaid)
-drain tank into several smaller buckets(easier to transport)you can place the remaining rock in these buckets
-once the tank is empty(do not remove the sand) move the tank
-place a garbage bag on the sand bed(this helps a lot, when you refill the tank you won't get a sandstorm)
-fill tank half way start placing rocks
-finish filling the tank w/ water and rocks
-place corals where you want them
-plug all equipment
-sit back and enjoy! oh and clean up the mess you left! LOL

Thanks Dean for the link.
Thanks Digital for your offer.
Thanks Scarf for your input.

I would like to change my water completely using RODI, since i did start my tank with tap water. Can I do that? Or should I change 50% with RODI and continue.

If you do deside to change to 100% ro/di water ,make sure you give your fish and corals a long acclimation .

also ,make sure you put you livestock in the old water when holding them in buckets ,,then do the acclimation in those buckets JMO

good luck with the move ,make sure you have enuff 5gall buckets and 1 or 2 x20gal rubbermaid buckets ,this will allow to tranfer everything every easy ,it will also allow you enuff space with the 20gal to keeep the livestock while getting the tank ready !
