Thanks. That's exactly what I was looking for :) How are you guys still awake. It's 11:00 here and I am exhausted! I'll do some tests and report back tomorrow. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge:tired:

We all work different schedules... I'm ready for bed... Chief is still at work... either way... MR is basically a 24 hour support system. Best site you can find when it comes to sw fish / reefs.

Hi JenniLee. Welcome to our little part of the reef.

As you can see, getting quality answers to your (not dumb at all) questions is a breeze here at MR. I agree with all the advice you've been given so far.

You should also add another piece of testing equipment to your list, a refractometer. This is a much more precise means of measuring your salinity, which should come as close to NSW (Natural Sea Water) as possible, 1.026. Corals and invertebrates (snails, crabs, shrimp, etc) require water parameters that are much more exacting than a fish only system.

We're all a bunch of picture hounds here. So when you get a chance, post a few. You'll get even more people to come out of the woodworks ;)

Good luck and enjoy.

Hi JenniLee!

If you do end up using ocean water, you may need to do water changes more often. Sorry that I cannot remember my source, but I remember something about it being much more sensitive and the critters and corals will more quickly leach out minerals.

Welcome to MR!
