i haven't tested my water yet today, but i've been sitting at 10 for nitrates all week. someone suggested doing a water change to help lower them, but i have also read that water changes during the cycling stage are only a temp fix and the nitrates will come back up again. i don't mind waiting it out (i can't believe how patient i've become over the past week lol), but if i'm supposed to be doing a water change, i may as well just do it. what do you all suggest?

Nitrates are at the end of the cycle, (Ammonia->Nitrites->Nitrates) To reduce or eliminate Nitrates you would do a water change.

First what is you Ammonia and Nitrites readings? If they're Zero then your cycle is done and you should do a water change to get the nitrates down. If they're not zero you're still haven't finish you cycle.
