So I noticed a large salt buildup on the floor recently and what do you know, my skimmer is leaking. BOTH of the bases of my DAS pumps are leaking. I believe it is the black twist on part that goes over the impeller. So I took the pumps apart, cleaned them thoroughly and put them back together only to get it leaking a bit more out of BOTH pumps. Anyone had this problem and know of a way to fix it?

Thanks,
Nate

Sounds like it, also make sure that you have turned it nice and tight to ensure that there is a snug fit against the O ring.

You could also try running it in sump this way the leak isn't so bad.

look likke you need new seals. try taking apart the impeller plate, remove the seal and clean it well, put a little of Vaseline on the seal before putting the plate back on.

I was always afraid of a seal leaking and I had some spares with my DAS-3 when I owned it. Getting some seal send to you from PetoRama in a timely fashion is almost impossible.

I had the same thing happen on my ex-2. It's in my sump so I did not care.

The thing with petorama is they are not consistent with service.
I got a new impeller right away when at the same time cali was waiting for his issue to be resolved.

the problem with these skimmers is not because of the aquabees, but the damn unions dont match up all the time. SO it might be water proof but then you swap the pumps around the O rings might not match up entirely.

I agree that part of the problem is that the fittings don't quite line up on this thing. The other problem is that the o-rings on the aquabees seem just a tiny bit too small in my opinion. I wasn't able to find any replacement o-rings at the local hardware store, but I took the o-rings off, coated them with vaseline and put it back together. So far so good, but going forward I'm going to be running this thing in a bucket just in case.

Thanks for the help guys,
Nate
