Newbie algea and bubble question

So my tank is almost a week old and is cycling. I have about 30lbs of LIve rock and 5 lbs of rubble in the chamber one and the refugium of a cadlights 25gallon.

I had no ammonia spike and my nitrites are .05 and Nitrates 20.
I have cheato in the refugium.
I am using catalina saltwater and toped off with distilled the first couple of days and RO from my lfs since.


On Saturday I started to run the T5s for 10 hours and the MH for 8. Monday and Tuesday the corraline looked Awsome on the top rocks. Yesterday when I got home the top rocks grew some brown fuzzy algea and covered most of the corraline. Now I know that different algeas will grow throughout the cycle, but the thing that is bothering me is there are a spaced out tiny ball bering type of bubbles. I posted this question on another board and someone said it was bubble algea. They are not fleshy and look more like air bubbles or newly sodered metal.

I have seen a few tanks in the lfs with similar larger bubbles, any ideas.

I had the same problem but it went away on its own.

Sounds alot like bubble algae, especially since you described it as soldered looking. If it looks more shiny then they could be just regular bubbles. Got any pics?

here is a link; it is really small and hard to see but it is in the broken circular branch in the middle, the tiny silver specs. Since it is early in the cycle I am willing to oust the rock and get more if need be...

Here's a common form of bubble algae:

Valonia sp.

This is not a problem that will dissipate on its own.

its not clumped together; the only reason I am concerned is because I went into my LFS and saw the same type (but larger) on corals and other places. Still they did not look like the pick and all were silver and standalone.

If it is greenish in color, I cant tell from the pic. It is def. bubble algae, mine is small and not grouped together either. An emerald crab will take care of it all. just monitor him

They start out as 1, if left alone, it'll eventually pop with a lot of babies and a cluster forms there
