tricks for crunchy salt?

I use Instant Ocean salt. Bucket I'm using now is pretty hardpacked so I use a broken knife to break it up prior to mixing. (The knife actually broke when trying to chop the salt up and the broken stub/handle actually works better than anything else I've tried.)

Was curious if packed salt was considered a bad sign AND

if anyone had any tricks to "unpack" it.

i dont no if the salt goes bad, but as u described the salt being hard and clumped that just means it was exposed to the air way to long... maybe somebody here can let you no if its safe to use...

It probably was exposed too much time and it absorbed some water from the air. IMO it's still good since the chemical composition is not altered.
