I turn off my return pump and allow my 20g sump to fill up. I drain the sump as much as possible and replace it there with new saltwater ~15-18G

I have no sump (aquapod 24), so I siphon off the SW. I mark the original volume by placing the top of a magfloat at the water line when my pumps are off, and use the power head I mixed the fresh SW with, attached to a hose, to pump the replacement water back in. I use a turkey baster if I blow off the rocks. I don't vacuum the sand, but I try to use tongs to pick up the big garbage that might be there.
