Deer Park is spring water and not distilled. I used Poland Spring for awhile and saw much better results when I switched to RO/DI water. The carbon may help, but I would get some PhosBan and do a water change ASAP.

Ok I got question while were talking about algae, A couple months back My Rodi fiters were brown, Really Bad time to change I use the kent marine Rodi unit, I went to my local fish store to buy replacements it took him over a month to get one of the filters so. I slacked on doing water changes and i was use tap water for top off. I know EWWWWW.. I developed brown crap on the rock work easly wipes off with a brush, I 'm thinking it was caused by bad water where I live ( There Constantlly doing road work out side bad water here) Someone told me it was Called not sure if this is a word (Tridas) Has anyone heard of this? Bascilly I wiped down my rock work and finally got my filters running again did some water change , Im on my second one Looks 100% better... But I still have some of the crap laying around , Are there any critters/fish that like to eat this crap?

Don't know bout tridas but u shouldn't have ever used tap as top off without at least dechlorinating it first. The list can go on and on. U proly have brown diatom algea.

As for the cyano. U have a chance of ridding ir tank of the green type. Its much more forgiving that the dark thick red type. Clean ur glass and keep up with water changes, watch ur parameters. if I were u I would try this use a turkey baster or better yet when siphoning water out the tank suck some of the green stuff off the sand without allowing it to get into the water column, use caution. Try to get a rodi or at least used distilled not spring. Good Luck.

What kind of water are you using again? Sorry if I missed it. It's probably going to take more than a week for it to disappear completely. Keep up with your water changes and make sure the polyfilter doesn't get exhausted.

You might want to try phosban if the problem persists after the next few weeks.

Also how big are your water changes? And how big is the total water volume of the system??

On a tank that small Phosban would definately do the trick, along side an Ro.Di unit.

Do you have a TDS meter? I only use the Di cartridge and it gets my TDS down to 0 from about 40. You might be able to get away with one of "Tap Water Filters". They work given your TDS isn't sky high to start with.

i could be wrong but i think Cyano is a bacteria, not an algae. I was told that it can grow even when phosphate levels are low. Although removing phosphate is good on so many different levels...

how old is your tank? a cyano bloom can be expect at the early stages. Someone suggested to me once, raising the alk to help rid cyano. Sorry I can't really give a definite answer on getting rid of cyano, mine disappeared after starting up Ultralith.

Also mine was red, not green.
