D dylanjs Guest Rating - 100% 194 0 0 Jan 25, 2007 #3 I don't have room for a sump, so I use the canister for carbon only. It's good that the Eheim sucks water in from the bottom of the tank 'cause the skimmer gets it from the surface. Maybe I'll skip the overflow box.

Henrye Junior Member Location NYC Rating - 100% 2 0 0 Jan 27, 2007 #5 As long as you clean it out every 4 weeks or so, it's fine to use to run carbon. If you leave it for extended periods, crud will build up and become a source for nitrate production. There's no need for an overflow. Henry
