FYI duke, just because you filled it up today and it didnt break, doesnt mean it wont fracture a week, a month or even a year later. It may take some time for it to start to spread. And if its by the bulkhead, ur in even more trouble b/c thats a weak point.

no not by the bulk head right on the corner of tank.a chip broke off the corner.that is why i think i can fix it.its in the overflow box so not much pressure is in that area and it only holds a gallon of water in the overflow box.the over flow box is permantly attached to side and back of tank so it creates sort of like a bracing effect.i think if i use the apoxy method that jhale sent me ill be fine . i think he has helped me find a goo method of fixing it.

Windshield repair kits are only for cosmetic purpose, no repair method will restore the original integrity of the glass. Glass windshields are not intended to hold pressure like your tank.

You might be lucky if the chip is on the hole where the bulkhead goes thru to the overflow box. Any chip to the corner of the tank will weaken the strength of the silicone joints and it MAY just start a crack with stress and time.

Good luck with that tank, I would either replace the glass or get a new tank.

crack

like i told you last night duke, hd sells a glass weld, it's a 2 part solution. kinda like jb weld but in one container that push's both out at same time. of it was me and its a chip not a crack i would fill area of chip and a area atleast a inch around it for structure. they also have a marine weld like i told you also. and the windshield fix isnt just for appearance. a chip wont spread a crack will. whether or not the strength is conpromised who know's and no one will give you a guarentee it wont break on down the road, but i would try the glass weld if anything

i am going to use that glass weld but i want to ask this anyway since they use silicone to bond the whole tank together why couldnt i just use silicone to fix my chip.like i said its on corner its not into the tank and the clam shell doesnt go through the glass just exterior i am just worried about seam.and since seam is held together by silicone i should be able to use it no.just a question im going to take advise from thread just curious
