No need to check it daily. But yes it will raise it over time. If you do regular water changes, it shouldn't be a problem. You can also offset that by making the water slightly lower.

I don't think the raise is that much to worry about. I know that in my old tank i dosed only esv and my salinity slowly started to rise. Alot of users share the same result. But it'a not like it's going to happen overnight. Personally i don't really check for it, but once in a blue moon then i'll see where it stands and correct it.

I just switched from randys 2 part to bionic, in a week my sg jumped from 1.026 to 1.028. it was corrected by the ro/di change randy mentioned.
thanks to herman while I was away. I owe you

That seems a little extreme. I've been using B-ionic for about ten years and have noticed a gradual SG increase over a few months but I've never detected an SG "jump" from week to week due to B-ionic dosing. Sure it wasn't another factor?

Randy's article on his improved recipe makes several references to increases in salinity over the course of a year. However, those increases also assumed no water changes.

JH, I agree with Tom...something else caused an increase of that magnitude.

I arrived at Jonathans place and started testing all the parameters and his SG was at 1.028 The only change that he had done was make the switch to bionic from Randys 2 part. He skims dry and topoff is done automatically. The tank has not been touched for about 2 weeks as he was not home. I dont see what else could have coused the increase. The 2 part solutions are administered via aquamedic dosers.

I too have experienced a gradual increase over the course of three months using bionic. Although not as drastic as Jhale did.

I made the switch from Randys 2 part also. Although I did not notice an increase in growth the color is definitely much better after making the switch.
