Help, I am researching my future tank and all the different filtration systems on the market make it confusing. What is the best system to set up? What is needed to make the best filtration system? I plan on setting up a live rock aquarium so hopefully there will be many natural filters in the tank, but I want to make sure the livestock and rocks get the best they can have.

Welcome to MR ..

If youre using Liverock and sand in the main tank ,a Refuge/Sump would work best --one area for your drain/s and filter socks .one area for skimmer and marco algea if you choice .and then baffles to stop micro bubbles ..this is where you should have your return pump.you should also add a phosban reactor with phosban media to help control phosphates

I forgot to add ,dont bother getting anything with bioballs or that needs sponges at the bottom of the sump ,it will just be a nitrate trap
