I have a 37 gallon and i was wondering if anyone knows the benefits of having a glass canopy. I know if you have some fish that could jump out that would be a benefit but is there any other or should i just remove it so there is more water evatoration.

When you say "canopy" I think of a box (sometimes with fans) which surrounds lights etc.; are you just talking about a glass top? or actually a full canopy?

I have a glass canopy. I use it for two reasons:

My T5 lighting requires a closed canopy.
Slows down evaporation.

I wash out my canopy once every 3 days to insure max lighting to tank.

Not too concerned with oxygen exchange since the protein skimmer already injects it in the water.

I use a glass top. I have to, or I'd have enough dog hair in it to consider just using it in place of filter floss. Oh, and Duke, he already threw his pet rabbit toy up, and landed it right on the glass for 2 points:rolleyes: .
