Help! Lighting!

Have a 29 gallon tank, recently bought an anemone which has its host, and two weeks after i bought mine it gave birth and they are both doing beautiful but there's a flaw i do not have the appriopriate lighting to replicate nature. i have a regular petland powerglow bulb, and they are doing so far well to this point i would appreciate it if any experienced hobbyist through out some recommendations on lightings systems. i was thinking about power compact usa orbit 24in, t-5HO retrofit lighting, or the VHO bulbs and kit. i do not know if im on the right path here so im open for any suggestions thank you.

lighting depend's on what type of anenome you have. i have a 29g high tank and had a pink tipped lta with no problems, also have another that host my maroon clwn with no problems, but some require alot of light. i have a current 130w compact on mine now, but switching tanks in 2 weeks to t5's. what type of anenome do you have ?

i really dont know i thought it was bta but from the looks of it now i cant really tell i think its a pink tip sabae. ill post up a photo with my next reply.

How much Watts do you have in the VHO? are there 2 bulbs or one. Most likely even if you have 2 then its almost 40 watts which is not enough for a anenome. Mine did fine in that type of light for a month and then later it started dying and then i had to purchase T5's and now a new anenome and now its going great for over 4 months. So it might do well for a while but its going to shortly die. Are you feeding it? Get better lighting that is my recommendation.

Welcom to MR crlacvd... another fellow Jersey City'an.... some anemones require intense lighting... i know more seasoned reefers in the site will be able to give you advice...

Welcome to MR, upgrade that lighting for that anemone or get it to someone who has the proper lighting for it. I would say T5 or Halide lighting would be best for it's survival.

Of the options you listed, T5 would be your best bet. Most anemones will do fine under decent T5 lighting. The bulb you currently have will cause the anemone to bleach. You can help the anemone in the interim by feeding it mysis, silversides, and other meaty foods.
