I just picked up a pink tipped anemone, aclimated it for about 30min and put it in the tank. I placed it on a big chunk of LR and it settled in. But then it started shrinking and it's letting this slime stuff out, is that normal?
Yup, what you witness is pretty normal. The deflating and slime is simply a way of exchanging fluids (and whatever else) to acclimate to its new environment. Happy reefing!
I have a question as to what to feed, I know I can give him shrimp or other meaty fresh fish, but what about filter feeding? Do I need to give it something like Kent Micro Vet?
"Kent Micro Vert contains a nutritionally balanced diet for corals, sponges, anemones, gorgonians, feather dusters, clams and other fine filter feeders."
Adding particulate food is uncecessary for anemones IME and IMO. Feeding it a small piece of shrimp every few days will be sufficient. I've found Condy's need a bit more feeding then pacific hosting anemones.
Be careful with those filter feeding foods. Some of them are very nutrient rich (loaded with phosphates) and can cause water quality/nuisance algae issues if you're not careful with them.
Well feeding it was easier then I thought it was going to be. I cut off a little piece of shrimp, stuck it to a prong of a small shrimp fork and lowered it down into the water. When I got about an inch away I just pushed my finger down to slide it off and he wrapped all around it and started eating
