question about sixlines

I just got one today from my LFS and i saw him eat in the store and when i got home i acclimated him and put in some flake to see if he would eat and he did i turned the lights off in the room and went in the room and turned them on and he is resting on his stomach on a rock is this normal

It doesn't seem normal at least compared to the specimen I had, since they are fairly active fish during the day. It probably just needs time to fully acclimate to your system. It could also be, because you turned off the light, that it had gone into sleep mode. Usually finding a hole or crevice in the live rock to hide in.

Sixlines build a cocoon around themselves at night when they rest...it's very cool. Perhaps your guy thought it was lights out and was getting ready for nighty-night.

One word of caution about sixlines...they will jump. Even a small area open in the back of the tank, say 1" x 1"...is enough...and these guys will find it. Cover your tank well!

i had read about the cocoon thing earlier today and thought back about it and there was mucusy stuff around him so now i feel bad about moving him i just thought is was huring him. wow these are such beautiful fish
