Tony,

I think your the only one being annoyed. The man made a statement and then backed it up with proof. If you want to rinse, that's fine. If taat wants to follow you're advice and rinse that's fine. Don't bash JP for making his opinion, which he has every right to do. Stop being such a kid.

Timber if you wanna defend ur little JP be my guest.. if he was right then i would back down and say hes right but it says it on that sheet to rinse it if your using it in a reactor.... it was not backed up cause the rest of the paper was not scanned.. i overlooked it as well before i used it... where it said it needed to be rinsed if it were to run in a reactor...

n this is the damn reason ive been off this site cause of so much stupid shiet.. he posts on every damn thread like its going out of style... people gotta learn some before they can give out some info ;)...

You know what forget it... i dun care, do what the hell you do... why should i be concerned over another persons tank... what was i thinking.. stupid me :tired:

taatd my friend you can listen to who you want... all in all this is a community and for the MOST part we give good advice... im just tired of seeing the wrong advice being posted... here is something from a man who knows his stuff and his name is MELEV...

http://www.melevsreef.com/chemicals.html (hey crox, i guess he don't know how to read half that sheet u scanned either)...

"ROWAphos - Similar to Phosban, this product should be used in a fluidize reactor. ROWAphos arrives in a sealed container and is rather moist. It looks like a jar of rust which, in essence, it is. I've used it in the past and am currently using it. A large container is $65 online and treats about 450g, which is rather expensive compared to the amount of Phosban you get in a bucket.
You need to rinse out ROWAphos. It is recommended to slow down the flow to the point that what is coming out of the fluidized reactor produces a 0 phosphate reading. What I do is set up the reactor in my sump, let it run very slowly in a bucket next to the sump until the effluent comes out clear. After about 3 gallons have collected, it is ready to drain into the sump itself. (Iron-based)"

i guess im the child here ;)... but at least im not the one that cant read a sheet of paper :lol2:

good luck taatd...

Marine Depot - Rowaphos

Excerpt: It is very important to note …. For use in a fluidized reactor we recommend that you wash the media in R.O. water prior to use to remove the fines, which would otherwise over fluidize and end up in the aquarium. If this happens it WILL NOT cause any harm to the inhabitants. For all other applications we recommend that you follow the instructions supplied with the pack and DO NOT WASH ROWAphos as you will be removing active materials and may deplete the capacity by removal of phosphates from the water that you are washing it in. The unwashed material will initially color the water brown but with good water flow will quickly disperse and have no negative effects on the health of your aquarium.

Tony and all the other invisible annoyed lurkers,

The point is you don't have to rinse if you don't want too. Why can't you see that.

OK I have another question. How do you rinse it off? Just dump it into a bucket of RODI water and basically just wet it? Or do you rinse it off under running faucet water? I guess you're washing it to get the dust off it?

This is how i do it. Your gonna rinse it while its in the reactor.... get a 5 gallon bucket or rodi water place the reactor pump in there then place the outgoing hose into an empty bucket and run it slowly.. thats how i rinse it...

some others actually rinse it with tank water and do a water change that way.... let the outgoing hose drain into the empty bucket and then replace any saltwater that was used with new saltwater and ur done...

on both ways, once the water runs clear from the hose you can place the outgoing hosing back into your sump and make sure that the material is moving a little like a mini earthquake on the top and your set...

either way is a good idea....

Hi Taat, sounds like you're getting everything you need.:wink1:
make sure you adjust the flow correctly. Not to much, not to little. The media in the chamber should just shimmy right above the surface, not tumble.
Also make sure you rinse the media well before allowing it to go into your tank water.
I rinse mine by setting it up in my case the sump, and I have the initial discharge water pour out into a bucket until water runs clear. Then I place the discharge/return line back into the sump. Then I make up a little fresh ro/di with salt and add that to the sump.
Minnie water change while rinsing phosar, works out just fine.:sgrin:
Let us know if you need anything else, and by the way you don't really need a 600 pump, so if and when your pump should fail any small pump or power head will do.

See above...:wink1:
