from what i can tell, the males are more vividly colorful than the females. so what determines sex? are they like clowns were sex is determined based on its size relative to the other clowns in the tank, or is it born male or female permantely. also, if it is like a clown, will it become male or female if kept singly? sorry to take up another post, but i forgot to ask in the last one lol. (oh and just curious, if a clown is kept singly, what sex does it become?) thanks!

Depending on the genus usually the largest female in a harem of wrasses will change into a male when the male is removed and the male will be larger and more colorful. As far as a clownfish, if it's alone in a tank, it will stay the same sex.
