Can I use phosban in a media bag and put it in my sump instead of using the

phosban reactor and have good results?

I tried it once and wasn't pretty, you need a very super fine mesh bag to even try it.

so you want to put phosban in your sump for display purpose or do you want to get its 100% use out of it.... if your answer is you wanna get its 100% use out of it then buy yourself a phosban reactor and pat yourself on the back ;)

the last part is your answer...

You can make a reactor with a micro jet, some tubing and a Gatorade bottle.

Putting the media into a fine mesh bag is running it passively. The water needs to flow through the media (ie: phosban) in order for it to be effective. The media bag in the sump will basically channel the water around the bag and not be useful.

Make sure you use rigid tubing inside the bottle. I used flexible and it only tumbles the rowa phos on one side. If it was centered in the bottle, it would be aggitating all of the phos.

Thanks I will end up buying the reactor now that I have learned that putting the phosban in the sump with a media bag wont really do anything. Thanks again everybody!
