I have a 24highx24wide18deep tank. It has LR, LS and several corals. I currently have 2 maxijet 1200's one on each side - mounted on the back and point to the middle of the front.

I read the sticky note on circulation and it was suggested that for 24 inch width that 1 maxi 500 would be good for LPS. Is this enough? I do have a lot of flow inside the tank but this seems low.

I always see posts of huge water movement as good - what are your thoughts?

Hi Tom and :welcome:

Although some corals (like many LPS) definitely favor lesser velocities/turbulence, as long as they are showing nice, full polyp extension, IMO the more flow the better. :)

IMO your flow is just right for LPS as long as neither of the powerheads is pointed directly at a coral.

Thanks for the responses. They do move the polyps alot but I get very good extension so I think I will keep it as it is for now.

Thanks again,

Tom
