This is kind of a long story...because I didn't do my homework!(newbie)! I made an impulse buy and created havoc! I have a 24g nano cube and bought a plate coral. I have been moving very slowly (tank started in March). As a result, i only had 1 toadstool coral and 1 brown polyp colony.Everybody was happy 'til the torch coral arrived. 1st) mistake, i put him too close to the toadstool (but far from the brown polyps. The Toadstool (within hours) shriveled up. 2nd mistake...i moved him(the toadstool) and moved him and moved him...so then he was really shriveled for almost 2 weeks! The final placement was the torch in the left corner and the toadstool in the right corner and the brown polyp on a ledge about 6" above the torch. That torch REALLY liked it where he was <he would blow up to be about 8" across and his "tentacles" grew to be about 5"! After the toadstool recovered and started to look good (a few days ago), i noticed that more than half of the polyp colony was closed up and grey looking! I knew that i had really stressed the toadstook and kept a lookout for slime<never saw it.As a result, i am not sure whether the torch got the polyps or the (unseen) slime. I had resolved yesterday that i would return the torch, but (it's like he read my mind) and kept puffed up!<i know that you aren't s'posed to move them when they are filled with h2o.Then today, the powerhead (CA 600) which i had "stuck" onto the plastic divider (with the suction cups) fell over and blew sand everywhere! And the torch shriveled up to the point where i could remove him and return him to the LFS. So now what can i do for the poor polyp colony<i've done nothing so far except to remove the torch coral.I have a question re: the powerhead but will post separately, as this is getting way too long. Thanks in advance.
