well if you look at the skimmer pulling the crap out of the water before it has a chance to break down and fuel the algae growth then yes it will help with an algae problem but its not the only answer for it....
I understand that it's not the answer to it. I'm starting to see that you need a whole platoon of different applications to combat the supply for the bad to take place in the tank. So I guess adding a bigger skimmer, carbon, phosban reactor all work as one to pick up where one application might miss something the next thing HOPEFULLY gets it. And I guess lastly is frequent water changes. OK I'm starting to get this all.:smash:

Sounds like you're well on your way :)
Don't forget the most important way to combat algae, prevention!
Be careful what you feed and how much. Also remember to check your source water. Tap water will fuel algae as much as dirty tank water.

I only use RODI water. Besides using my TDS meter o I need to do other tests on this water? Like testing for phosphates, nitrates and the like?

Your RO/DI water should be free of nutrients but the food you feed may be high in phosphates. Unrinsed frozen food is notorious for containing very high phosphate levels. Flake food also is often high in phosphates. Nori as well can be (I've heard).

Products like Kent Phyto etc. will also spike your levels quite a bit. That was what I meant by prevention. :)

AHHHHHH I see..... As for fish food they eat freeze dried sea weed, and Formula 1. I been trying not to feed liquid food to the corals. Maybe one capful every other week.
