I have another question about mushrooms. Is there any special care to be taken for them during the cycling process of a new tank? I got lucky with lots of freebie mushrooms with my first liverock purchase..

There should be NO corals or fish in the tank during the cylce. If the LFS gave you free corals with your LR see if they can hold them for you until your tank is ready. If not find another LFS because they should not have given you those corals knowing you are starting up a tank.

I think we might be talking about hitchhikers on the rock.

If so, just keep ammonia levels as low as possible while curing/cycling via skimming, strong water movement and water changes. That will keep stuff alive...

Here is a pic of one of the rocks. I bought 11 lbs of cured rock and got three pieces with the mushrooms.

Cmon...these are mushrooms right? I guess they are dime size. Fun to have something other than rock to look at... :D
