Hello all- Here is my predicament- I am on my second box of Tropic Marin Pro reef-my first box had an Mg level of 1050-so I had to dose the heck out of the water change water and the tank to finally get it up to 1300- So now my second box of salt tests at 1300 mg (thank god) but the Alk tests at 1.9 so now I have to dose the heck out of my water change water to get it up to at least 3.0 but am noticeing white film on everything (container, pump, heater) just wondering if I should worry- salt is at 1.025,temp at 80. I have to put in about 4 ml to get 1 gallon up to 3.0.Thanks

Hi Chris- The main tank is at about 400- The second box of TMPro is at about 420 ( I havent had to dose Ca for a long time) no SPS just softies-use Salifert kits and a refract.- Tank perameters:

Ca-400
Mg-1280
Alk-3.0
The water change water is clear after mixing for 2 days - but just worried about the white film on the water change container and equiptment- Only started happening when I started dosing the water chage water to get the ALK up before putting in tank.

I wouldn't worry about it. One time, my pump kicked in some plastic shavings that go around the impeller magnet. I just pumped the water into a filter sock in my sump. That could be something you could do. I have personally found TM pro reef is just a more expensive version that has extra calc/alk in it. If it is much more, just switch to regular TM and dose accordingly. That's what I do.
