Also posted on this in hitchhiker forum (sorry didn't know correct place and trying to find answer asap).

Earlier today finally got mantis shrimp hitchhiker out of the reef yay!!
Was just in process of converting a 20g from freshwater and curious about mantis shrimp for species tanks. How high maintenance are they? are they worth devoting an entire tank to them? can they coexist with other inhabitants if fed fairly regularly? (if so any suggestions on which?)

Thank you,

Chris

IMO YES! They are awesomely cool critters once they are out of your reef tank.

I've kept them with fast fish, Big Snails, and lotsa corals. Once you start hand feeding them they grow big fast and become a lot less shy.

Awesome Guy....thanks for the info. He is definately a cool little thing.....and a lot less spooked by me than i'd assume after netting him yesterday.
