Ok silly question I guess. My new sump did not come with a micron filter sock attachment, so even tho I am not typically going to run mechanical filtration I sort of wanted to have some sock for when I nuke the rock and do water changes.

My wife said that I could just wrap a peice of her old pantyhose around the sump return. Will this work?? Or do I have to buy a micron sock attachment. Are the pantyhose fine enough to get the job done???

It would work. I have used stockings before. Just make sure to get the toe funk out first.

Hey really I know it was a silly question but had to ask. Thx Waz The issue I was really concerned about was were they fine enough to capture detritus and so forth. The toe part does not worry me as much as the crotch part............ :roll:

If you tell my wife I said that.............. remember I know where you all hang out... 8O

I'm not sure of the mesh size of a standard pair of stockings, but in the non stretched state it should be fine. I would only use knee high's or cut the bottom of the leg parts off. You only really need the toe and about 10".
