I have a nOOb question. I started my tank nov 9 and i noticed that my tank last night was cloudy looking from the side you cant see through the glass is this part of the cycle im confused cause look straight at it it looks
only hazey but from side to side looks like a big fog. :?: the only thing i have running is my sump thats it. no skimmer.

Could be a bacterial bloom. Check you Ammonia and do a water change if it's high. Some say above 1.0ppm but I've had better results keeping ammonia below 0.5ppm.

I have a 55 gal tank how much should I change during the cycle 5gal? should i use disteld (spelling) water I dont have a RO unit yet

Distilled water is fine.

The way I do a cycle (your results may vary) the amount of water changed depends on the Ammonia level. 0.6ppm just 5 gallons, 0.7ppm, 10 gallons, etc.

It a LOT easier to allow Ammonia to climb but as I said earlier, I've had much better results not letting it get high.
