:D Hi I have always wanted to have Fish, after I watched the Movie finding Nemo I wanted to have Saltwater Fish.Of coarse a Movie and reality is very different but I didnt care.I love my Hobby and get alot have Joy from my pet Fish. But I honestly can say the Movie finding Nemo had a Influence on me.I have talked to many Petshop owners and they said that Finding Nemo was great for Business.Im sure the negitive aspects are people did get into it as a fad.And Im sure that irks some hardcore Hobbyist who care about enviromentel impacts. But I can say I really love it and am glad that the Movie came out because I enjoy it so much.Did the Movie have a influence on you and in what way, curious to know.

I was already in the hobby when Nemo came out... I was a little annoyed by the fallout after the movie, but still loved it because of course it's saltwater fish, but more than that, it was a Pixar, they're consistently hilarious... very much looking forward to the release of Cars later this summer.

However, to this day, people look at my tank and say "OOOohhhh, look at the cute little 'Nemo-Fish'!" :x

That's a new thread Snapper, but yeah the movie influenced me. Made me hate hollywood and its marketing even more than I did. Do a search on the subject and you'll find many many opinions on that subject.

No worries about threads disgressing it happens all the time  it's just that you'll get more response from varied people from a new thread with "what about Nemo" or some such in the title, rather than hoping more people click on this existent thread which is about your avatar...

Not only no, but HELL NO! I get tired of hearing "nemo" or "dory" when I go to the LFS. Stupid hollywood ruins everything.

To answer the question, no I was into fishkeeping for 20 some years before Nemo got lost

My dislike of the movie centers on the the ironic fact that a movie which had an anti-aquarium plot...the well-meaning but misguided Dentist who takes Nemo away from his dad and plans of giving Nemo to an uncaring evil child (Darla who kills nice fishes)...was responsible for an untold number of 'Nemos' and "Dorys" dying due to people buying marine fish without a clue as to how much it entails to keep them alive.

If I was working in that shop, there's no way I would've sold them fish the same day. The LFS I went to when I first started saltwater would only sell me a damsel 1 week after I said my tank was set up, and wouldn't sell me anything else until 6 weeks later. Pissed me off at the time, but now I appreciate him for his responsibility.
