You know those plastic decorations you can buy at the pet store? are they safe to put into a salt water tank?

do they leech any strange chemicals or anything?

Also what about legos? i have these visions of a floating lego pirate ship on top of the tank, or maybe lego divers in side :P

any thoughts?

Your question answered.

Any decorations you put in your tank must read either marine or saltwater safe.

Sorry about the cold welcome. The first thing this forum tries to accomplish is the survival of what you plan on keeping.

I would think that the plastic decorations are ok, as long as you make sure they are marine/saltwater/reef safe. Now about lego's if it is too much pieces I would have to side with caution and say no....it can trap water in between the seams and create stagnant conditions ...Very bad... a small amount can be ok. Now as far as looks... Que sera , sera.
My opinion you shouldn't and that is why people were probably cruel, this hobby is a serious matter, too most of us and Lego's are for kids. But good luck on whatever your choice.

I love legos! I have all the Harry Potter sets and the jumbo 400 pc. bucket.

I do agree that the pieces may trap detritus. Maybe if you glued all around the edges to seal them? Also, you would have to get all the air out of whatever you build so that it doesn't float.

I can totally see an all black lego thing going. The bright colors of the corals would really pop....although once they start getting covered with coralline, they will look messy.
