I was checking out a vendor that advertises on Advanced Aquarist and ASM just came out with a Mini-Skimmer rated for up to 50 ga for $97.00.

Would anyone trust this one?

You have a 30gal? Correct? Are you going to evect the turtle? A 10g should be good for a 30gal tank.

Yep, my son has gotten too many demerits so he's losing the turtle. To the bayou he goes. He's a Mississippi mud turtle anyway so he will be happy there.

Sumps arent that hard to put together. Only thing is in my case the noise since my tank is in my bedroom so the "gurgling" would drive me crazy.

For a 30 gl with a 10 gl sump all you will need is a small return pump and a hangon overflow of some type, a few feet of pvc pipe and some fittings.

Being this small a pond fountain pump may even work, and they arent expensive at all. A 200 gallon an hour pump costs 25 bucks at lowes, and it has a dial on it to control flow speed.

Do a search in the do it yourself forum. There is all kinds of info in there on sumps. Just scale it down to fit your needs.

Now if you think about it, you can buy a remora skimmer with the preskimmer box for about 200 dollors, so by the time you build a sump and get the 100 dollor skimmer....not much diffrence in the total dollors spent.

Oh should add this in.

There are many many benefits to having a sump beyon the skimmer. It can act as a refugium/macroalga growing area etc etc so a sump is the better way to go usally.

Now theres your answer..talk to wazzel and the others who do the nano reefs. Those are small systems so Im sure they have a lot of firsthand knowledge about small system sumps.

That would be "New Reefkeepers Fourm". My last tank was a 60 so not sure if that qualifies as a nano.

Lol ...well a 60 compared to a 300 would count as a nano yes?

Have any luck in the diy or nano forums on sump ideas cvp?
