hi.

I have hydrated lime (from garden store) so i'm wondering if I can use it instead of picking lime? and at how many spoon per gallon ? I wanna raise a little PH. Also I'm wondering if it's a good idea to put some crushed oyster shell in the sand as a buffer.

I have FOWLR, and my PH is ~ 8, and KLH is ~ 2.85 meg.

Thanks!!

I'm not sure, but for starters if it is not food grade do not even consider it.

Hate it when people use common names.
Hydrate lime, lye, quick lime, dolomitic hydrate lime, etc...
Hydrated lime is Ca(OH)2 with various amount of Mg(OH)2 mixed in.

I will not use it for my tank.
