I have a quick question about alternatives to RO/DI water. Currently I have a 29 gallon tank and I don't think it would pay me right now to purchase a $300 or more RO/DI filter system for topping off my tank and bi-weekly water changes. While I know I can purchase RO/DI water from my LFS, could I use the water from some place like one of those stand alone water places (walmart, etc)? While I know it's filtered, I don't know if it's fully RO/DI or not. Have any of yall used those to your satisfaction?

They are usually RO only, no DI. Many of us used it without problem. Just make sure it is not neglected, and has its last filter change 4 years ago.

It is always a good idea to do some quality assurance with a TDS meter once a while. You never know what can happen to filter somedays.
