Just started my new reef tank (24 gal) after a couple of years doing research into what kind of aquarium I wanted. Finally done with Navy flight school and decided to jump into this. Not knowing much about the hobby, I went with an Aquapod as to not get in over my head. I put in live rock (Gulf and Fiji) and thats as far as I have gone. The rock is bursting with life and I'm wondering if I need to add anything to feed the organisms hanging out on the rock. The family that runs the local fish store is very helpful but I hate taking up their time.(Almost 4 hours on Sunday) Any helpful hints would be greatly appreciated as I may not even know what questions to ask yet.

Nah you dont need to feed anything the rock will take care of it in time. Take your time and remember nothing good happens fast in a reef tank :)

And :welcome:

like M said. Make haste slowly.

What light are you running, and are you using a skimmer?

The lfs ordered a skimmer for my tank and should be here tonight or tomorrow. As for the lights...
32w Dual sunpac daylight, 32w dual sunpac actinic, and 2 nocturnal lunar lights. Thanks for the help and I have no problem with going slow at this.

at 64w youll want to be careful with what animals you put in your tank. Make sure they are either non-photosynthetic, like many filterfeeders are, or require very little light. :)

If you find youself skimping.. dont skimp on the skimmer (as in a prism or a seaclone, and don't skimp on lighting )

just my 2 cents.

The lights are 32 w dual sunpac 6700/10000k daylight and 32w dual sunpac actinic 420/460nm. Does that make any difference? Or do I still need something bigger?
