If the Ph inside a calcium reactor is more or less 6.5, what would the ph be of the water at the outflow of the reactor. If it is also very low, would it not effect your ph in the tank over a period of time?
pH of the outflow should be the same as inside the rxtor. The pH of the tank should not be affected much due to degasing of the CO2 if you have good aeration. This is why ca rxtor use CO2 to acidify the saltwater, instead of HCl or other inorganic acid.
In actuality Calc Rx have been know to cause a low Ph condition in the tank.
there are several ways to deal with this. One is to add a second effluent chamber to your reactor thus giving the C02 a chance to outgas and not be added to your tank keeping your Ph more stable.
Another way is to use kalkwasser in tandem with your calc Rx, as you know kalk in a saturated state has a Ph of 12 so dripping or stirring kalk will help balance out any low Ph associated with your calc reactor.
My buddy uses this mwthod and his Ph is consistantly 8.3
