wondering what people think is the best way to setup powerheads/pumps & such to get the best flow going

have a 55 setup now
I've got a total of 6 powerheads + 2 cannister filters & a penguin biowheel 350, obviously the 350 can only go one way

do I want the flow to go basically "one way" in the tank? or try to get some swirly action going?

right now there is only 2 powerheads & the 2 cannisters in the tank, gonna be adding everything else tommorow

keeping 2 anenomes, couple mushroom colonies, couple zoo colonies to start off with

+ my fish are a clown (nemo) a mimic tang, & 3 small damsels

ideally what you want is a wave-like action. In otherwords you DONT want the flow to just go one way all the time. You can buy timers that create wave-like flow with powerheads by turning different ones on at different times. You might check out the Hydor adaptors for powerheads to disperse the flow too.

As far as the cannisters go they should provide surface agitation, but I wouldn't use them as filters. Live Rock and skimming would be a better option.

If you use the penguin take the biowheel out, as it will become a nitrate factory after some time.
