Hey im new to SW and have been inspired after looking at a bunch of other tank setups on here and others. Ive also been inspired with my brothers 120g SW tank. I plan to setup a 33g SW tank (36x12x18) i already have the tank and sand, powerheads, heater and skimmer but not sure what type of lighting, sump ect would i need? if anyone could help me out id really appreciate it. Ive had freshwater for many years but always been fascinated by saltwater and would like to give it a try :D thanks, Mike.

First things first is to do some research and decide your "must haves" in terms of fish and coral. Then you build the system around those organisms. That way you don't look up 6 months down the road and realize that the lights, etc aren't adequate or the system isn't setup properly.

IMO the goal with any tank is for the animals to THRIVE not just SURVIVE so planning is essential.

What did you plan on keeping?
