I had the same ASM skimmer, and liked it. Never ordered from that particular company though.

What size tank did you have it on? I see that it is rated for up to 250 gal. Do you think it will be sufficient?

and yes I am still hitting the books and such to see what I am building the tank for. I should have some details posted soon.

I also bought mine from asmskimmer.com. I have a G3 on my 75 and I'm happy with it. The pump that comes with it is fine. Look into getting the recirculating mod and the gate valve mod also. I didn't get the recirc mod and now regret it but will be modding it myself soon. After the mod, feed the skimmer through an MJ1200 and you'll even better skimming! (You can read about these mods on the asmskimmer.com site also)

One thing though, asmskimmer.com seems to have been out of the G3 for a little while now. You might want to e-mail them to see what's up. But great company to do business with! My housing cap came with a broken latch and after sending them pictures of it, Rob sent me a replacement cap with no problems! :)

I just bought a G3 off of ebay and got it last Friday he is selling the new version at 245.95 and shipped mine fast and he acually has them in stock. It's fricken huge compared to the antique airstone one I had before. I had to get the shorter one to fit under my stand I have right at 25.5" It's looks good haven't used it yet still waiting on other stuff.

We are out of the G3 (and most of the other skimmers too), we have been cut off from the manufacturer for selling them too cheaply.

Have you heard of the Octopus Skimmers? We sell them too, www.OctopusSkimmer.com. They perform similarly to the ASM, made of better materials and cost less.

Yeah, when the ASM skimmers went up in price, asmskimmer.com decided to start charging for shipping and keeping their skimmer prices lower (considerably). I guess ASM didn't like that, for some reason... :roll:
